How to Make Turkey Meatloaf with Sweet Italian Sausage

1. Prepare Meatloaf Mixture

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large mixing bowl, combine two-thirds of the minced garlic, finely chopped fresh rosemary, red pepper flakes, fresh bread crumbs, kosher salt, freshly ground black pepper, and whole milk. Add the ground turkey and crumbled sweet Italian pork sausage, mix until just combined, and shape into a meatloaf on a baking pan. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil.

2. Bake Meatloaf

Bake the meatloaf at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 minutes, turning halfway through. Then, lower the heat to 325 degrees Fahrenheit and continue baking.

3. Prepare Tomato and Wine Sauce

In a saucepan, heat the remaining 4 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil over medium heat. Cook the bacon until starting to crisp, then add red onion and the rest of the garlic. Cook for 4 minutes, then stir in the whole tomatoes and red wine. Bring to a boil and reduce to a rich sauce.

4. Finish Baking Meatloaf

Pour the hot tomato and wine sauce over the meatloaf, cover with foil, and bake until a meat thermometer reads 150 degrees Fahrenheit, about 20 to 30 minutes. Let rest covered for 10 to 20 minutes before serving.

5. Serve

Slice the meatloaf and arrange on a platter. Top with sauce and garnish with torn mint leaves.
