1. Boil Water
Begin by boiling two cups of water in a medium saucepan.
2. Cook Ramen Noodles
Once the water reaches a rolling boil, add the ramen noodles, but discard the seasoning packet. Stir the noodles occasionally to prevent sticking, and cook them for about three minutes until they are just tender but not mushy. Drain the noodles and set them aside.
3. Heat Sesame Oil and Add Aromatics
In the same saucepan, heat a tablespoon of sesame oil over medium heat. Add a finely chopped clove of garlic and a teaspoon of grated ginger, stirring continuously for about a minute until fragrant.
4. Prepare Broth
Pour in two cups of chicken or vegetable broth, and bring it to a simmer. Once simmering, add a tablespoon of soy sauce and a teaspoon of miso paste, whisking until the miso paste is fully dissolved.
5. Combine Noodles with Broth
Return the cooked noodles to the saucepan and let them soak up the flavors for a minute.
6. Prepare Toppings
Meanwhile, prepare your toppings. Slice a soft-boiled egg in half, chop some green onions, and gather any other desired toppings such as spinach, mushrooms, or a sprinkle of sesame seeds.
7. Serve Ramen
To serve, ladle the noodles and broth into a large bowl. Arrange the toppings artfully on top, starting with the egg halves and followed by the green onions and other chosen garnishes.
