How to Make Savory Cremini Mushroom & Onion Gravy

1. Mix Flour and Vegetable Broth

Start by mixing the flour and vegetable broth in a bowl until you have a smooth mixture. This step is crucial to prevent any lumps in your gravy later on.

2. Preheat Pan and Sauté Onion

Next, preheat a large nonstick pan over medium heat. Once the pan is warm, add the olive oil and then the thinly sliced onion. Sauté the onion for about 5 minutes, until it becomes translucent and soft.

3. Add Mushrooms

Add the cremini mushrooms to the pan and continue to sauté for another 5 minutes. The mushrooms should become tender and start to release their juices.

Lower the heat to a gentle simmer and slowly pour in the flour-vegetable broth mixture, stirring constantly. This constant stirring helps to ensure a smooth and thickened gravy. Continue to cook and stir for about 5 minutes, until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
