How to Make Indian Style Fried Okra

    1. Prepare Okra

Wash and thoroughly dry one pound of fresh okra. Remove both the head and tail of each okra, then slice them into ⅛-inch rounds.

    2. Heat Oil

Heat about one inch of oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high heat. The oil is ready when a piece of okra dropped in sizzles immediately.

    3. Fry Okra

Fry the okra in batches to avoid overcrowding. Each batch should take about 4-5 minutes. The okra is done when it turns crisp and light golden brown. Remove the fried okra with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

    4. Season Okra

While the okra is still hot, season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper. If desired, sprinkle on ⅛ teaspoon of cayenne pepper and ½ teaspoon of garam masala.

    5. Serve

Serve these golden crispy okra bites immediately while they are still warm and crunchy.
