How to Make Savory Turkey Burgers with Balsamic Radicchio Slaw

    1. Prepare the Creamy Sauce

In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, mustard, and 1.5 tablespoons of minced capers until well combined. This creamy sauce will add a tangy punch to your burgers.

    2. Make the Turkey Patty Mixture

In a medium bowl, combine the ground turkey, fresh thyme, and the remaining 1.5 tablespoons of capers. This mixture will be the base for your turkey patties.

    3. Sauté the Shallots

Warm 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a small frying pan over medium heat and sauté the minced shallot for about 4 minutes, until the shallots are tender and translucent. Adding sautéed shallots to the turkey mixture will enhance the overall flavor of the patties.

    4. Combine Shallots with Turkey Mixture

Once the shallots are ready, add them to the turkey mixture along with 0.75 teaspoon of coarse kosher salt and a generous amount of freshly ground pepper. Mix everything together thoroughly and form the mixture into four equal patties with your hands.

    5. Prepare the Buns

Brush the hamburger buns lightly with olive oil and sprinkle them with a bit of freshly ground pepper. Preheat your broiler.

    6. Cook the Turkey Patties

Heat a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Brush the pan with some olive oil to prevent sticking, then cook the turkey patties for about 5 minutes on each side, until they are well browned and cooked through.

    7. Prepare the Radicchio Slaw

While the patties are cooking, place the sliced radicchio in another bowl. Drizzle the remaining 3 tablespoons of olive oil over the radicchio, season with salt and pepper, and toss well. Add the balsamic vinegar and toss again, adjusting the seasoning to taste.

    8. Toast the Buns

Place the oiled buns on a rimmed baking sheet and broil them for about 4 minutes, until they are golden and slightly crispy.

    9. Assemble the Burgers

To assemble the burgers, place the bottom halves of the buns on plates. Top each with a turkey patty, then spoon some of the mayonnaise-mustard sauce over the patties. Add a generous portion of the balsamic radicchio slaw on top, and finish with the bun tops. Serve immediately.
