How to Make Rustic Garlic Marinara Sauce

1. Sauté Garlic

Start by placing a saucepan over medium-low heat and adding 2 teaspoons of olive oil. Once the oil is warm, add the minced garlic. Sauté the garlic for about a minute until it turns golden and releases a fragrant aroma, but be careful not to let it brown as this can make the garlic taste bitter.

2. Add Tomatoes and Herbs

Next, pour in the crushed tomatoes and add the dried thyme, dried oregano, salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Stir everything together, then increase the heat to medium to bring the mixture to a simmer. Once it's gently bubbling, reduce the heat back to medium-low and let it simmer for about 15 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure the flavors meld together and the sauce thickens slightly.
