How to Make Hearty Kielbasa and Tangy Cabbage Stew

    1. Grease the Slow Cooker

Use 2 tablespoons of bacon fat or lard to grease the inside of a 4-quart or larger slow cooker to ensure that nothing sticks and adds a subtle richness to the stew.

    2. Add Cabbage and Spices

Arrange the chopped cabbage evenly in the slow cooker. On top of the cabbage, sprinkle the caraway seeds, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and mustard powder.

    3. Add Broth and Vinegar

Pour in the chicken broth and apple cider vinegar over the seasoned cabbage.

    4. Add Kielbasa

Place the smoked kielbasa on top of the cabbage mixture.

    5. Cook the Stew

Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook for 4 to 6 hours until the cabbage becomes tender and translucent.

    6. Serve the Stew

Remove the kielbasa from the slow cooker and cut it into evenly sized chunks before serving hot.
