How to Make Grilled Pickled Red Onions

    1. Prepare and Grill Onions

Peel and slice the red onion in half, brush the cut surfaces with olive oil, and place on a preheated grill for about 3 minutes to develop char marks.

    2. Combine Pickling Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine cider vinegar, sea salt, honey, garlic cloves, dried oregano, cumin seeds, and red pepper flakes. Heat over medium heat until it begins to simmer.

    3. Simmer Onions in Pickling Liquid

Slice grilled onions into thin strips and add them to the simmering pickling liquid. Simmer together for an additional minute.

    4. Cool and Chill

Let the mixture cool to room temperature, then transfer the onions and liquid into an airtight container and refrigerate until chilled.
