    How to Make Chocolate Cookies

    1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheets

    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or use silicone baking mats.

    2. Whisk Dry Ingredients

    In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

    3. Cream Butter and Sugars

    In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

    4. Add Egg and Vanilla

    Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.

    5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

    Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

    6. Fold in Chocolate

    Fold in the chocolate chips or chunks.

    7. Scoop and Place Dough on Baking Sheets

    Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

    8. Bake

    Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. Do not overbake; the cookies will firm up as they cool.

    9. Cool Cookies

    Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

    10. Serve

    Serve and enjoy your freshly baked chocolate cookies!
