1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheets
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
2. Cream Butter and Sugars
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
3. Add Eggs and Vanilla
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
4. Combine Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
5. Blend Dry and Wet Ingredients
Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Be careful not to overmix.
6. Add Chocolate Chips
Fold in the chocolate chips until they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
7. Scoop and Bake
Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart. You may want to roll them lightly into balls for a more uniform shape.
8. Bake Cookies
Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. They will continue to cook on the baking sheet after you remove them from the oven.
9. Cool Cookies
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
10. Repeat Baking
Repeat with the remaining dough until all your cookies are baked.
11. Store Cookies
Once cooled, store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.
