How to Make Healthy Homemade Cheddar Crisps

1. Prepare Flour Mixture

Mix the whole wheat flour and baking powder together in a small bowl.

2. Cream Butter and Cheese

Cream the room-temperature butter with the kosher salt and a pinch of cayenne using a food processor or an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment. Gradually incorporate 1 cup of the shredded Cheddar cheese.

3. Form the Dough

Gradually add the flour mixture to the cheese mixture, mixing until a dough forms. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap, shape it into a log, and refrigerate for at least an hour or overnight.

4. Slice and Top the Dough

Preheat the oven to 350°F, line two baking sheets with parchment paper, slice the chilled dough into thin rounds, and arrange them on the sheets. Top each slice with a small amount of the remaining ½ cup of Cheddar cheese.

5. Bake the Crisps

Bake the crisps for about 12 minutes until golden brown, then turn off the oven and leave them inside for an additional 5 minutes. Transfer the crisps to a wire rack to cool completely.
