1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Dry Ingredients
Warm-up your oven to a toasty 375°F. Take a small bowl and gently whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and a pinch of salt.
2. Cream Butter and Sugars
In a larger bowl, beat the softened butter with both the granulated and brown sugars, adding a splash of vanilla extract.
3. Add Eggs
Crack in the eggs, one at a time, giving them a good beat after each.
4. Combine Dry and Wet Ingredients
Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamy butter and eggs, mixing just enough to combine.
5. Fold in Chocolate Chips
Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips, and if desired, the chopped nuts.
6. Bake the Cookies
Using a rounded tablespoon, scoop and drop the dough onto ungreased baking sheets, and bake for 9 to 11 minutes.
7. Cool the Cookies
Allow the cookies to rest on the baking sheet for two minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
