How to Make Zesty Salami & Pepperoncini Cream Cheese Spirals

1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Base

Prepare a large cutting board or your countertop by laying out a sheet of plastic wrap. Place the room-temperature cream cheese on the plastic wrap, then cover it with another sheet of plastic wrap. Using a rolling pin, roll the cream cheese until it is about ¼ inch thick, forming a rectangle.

2. Add Salami Layer

Carefully remove the top layer of plastic wrap. Lay the thinly sliced salami over the cream cheese, ensuring you cover the entire surface.

3. Add Pepperoncini and Roll

Place another sheet of plastic wrap on top and gently flip the entire thing over. Remove the plastic wrap that is now on top, and sprinkle the sliced pepperoncini evenly over the cream cheese. Starting from one end, roll the cream cheese, salami, and pepperoncini into a tight log. Wrap the log with plastic wrap and refrigerate it for at least 6 hours.

4. Slice and Serve

After the log has chilled, use a sharp knife to cut it into slices. Serve these delightful spirals chilled and enjoy the zesty, creamy, and savory flavors in each bite.

Pitfalls and tips

Quality Ingredients

Select artisanal salami and rich, tangy cream cheese. Opt for glass jar pepperoncini for better flavor and texture.

Rolling Technique

Spread to edges and roll tightly; chill before slicing for cleaner cuts.

Herbs and Seasonings

Add fresh herbs like basil or parsley, smoked paprika, or lemon zest for enhanced flavor.

Balance of Flavors

Fine-tune the amount of pepperoncini and consider a pinch of sugar to balance acidity.

Advance Prep

Make spirals a few hours ahead and refrigerate to meld flavors and improve firmness.
