How to Make Green Beans with Toasted Almonds and Lemon

1. Trim Green Beans

Trim the green beans using a knife to remove any tough ends to ensure they cook evenly and have a pleasant texture.

2. Toast Almonds

Place a heavy pan on the stove over medium heat and add the butter. Once the butter has melted and the foam subsides, add the sliced almonds to the pan. Stir them gently as they toast, watching closely until they begin to brown, indicating they are perfectly toasted.

3. Season the Almonds

Squeeze the juice of half a lemon into the pan with the toasted almonds and sprinkle in some salt. Stir to combine, bringing a bright, fresh balance to the rich nutty flavor.

4. Boil Green Beans

While the almonds are toasting, bring a pot of salted water to a boil and add the green beans. Boil them until they are tender yet still crisp. Drain the beans in a colander, making sure they are free of excess water.

5. Combine and Serve

Combine the green beans with the almond mixture in a bowl or directly in the pan, tossing them until well coated. Taste and adjust the seasoning with additional salt if needed. Serve the green beans garnished with the toasted almonds.
