How to Make Artichokes Boiled or Steamed

    1. Prepare the Artichokes

Trim the artichoke stems and snip off the thorns with a pair of scissors to ensure even cooking and easy handling.

    2. Boil the Artichokes

Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Gently place the artichokes in the pot. Cook them for about 30 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a knife into the base of an artichoke. If it slides in smoothly, the artichokes are cooked.

    3. Steam the Artichokes (Alternative Method)

Set up a steamer over a pot with a lid. Steam the artichokes for about 30 minutes until tender.

    4. Serve the Artichokes

Serve the artichokes with ramekins of melted butter or homemade mayonnaise for dipping.

    Pitfalls and tips

    Ensure the correct water level

for steaming, water should not touch the artichokes; for boiling, they should be fully submerged.
