How to Make Swiss Chard Tacos with Caramelized Onion, Cheese, and Red Chile

    1. Prepare the Swiss Chard

Cut the Swiss chard into 1/2-inch slices. If the leaves are small, leave them whole to ensure they cook evenly and integrate well into the taco filling.

    2. Caramelize the Onions

Heat the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onion and cook until it turns a rich golden color, about 4-5 minutes.

    3. Add Garlic and Red Pepper

Stir in the garlic and red pepper flakes, allowing them to release their flavors for just a few seconds.

    4. Cook the Greens

Add the broth or water, a pinch of salt, and the prepared greens to the skillet. Cover the skillet and let the greens cook until they are almost tender, which can take anywhere from 2 to 8 minutes.

    5. Evaporate Excess Liquid

Remove the cover, raise the heat, and stir occasionally until most of the liquid has evaporated and the greens are moist but not wet.

    6. Assemble the Tacos

Taste the mixture and adjust the salt if necessary. Serve the greens and onions with warm corn tortillas, a sprinkle of crumbled cheese, and your favorite salsa or hot sauce.
