1. Apple Filling Prep
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the apple pieces with 2 tablespoons of sugar, lemon juice, and ground cinnamon. Toss to mix.
2. Microwave to Soften
Microwave the apple mixture for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the apples have softened and the juices have thickened, stirring occasionally. Once done, remove from the microwave and let it cool slightly.
3. Crumble Topping Mix
While the apple filling cools, in a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, the remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar, rolled oats, and a pinch of salt.
4. Butter Incorporation
Add the unsalted butter to the dry mixture. Using your fingers, rub the butter into the mix until it resembles the texture of coarse crumbs.
5. Topping Toasting
Microwave the crumble topping for about 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until it turns golden and fragrant.
6. Assemble and Serve
Generously sprinkle the toasted crumble topping over the cooled apple filling. Serve immediately and savor the warm, cinnamon-spiced flavors.
