How to Make Magic Cookie Bars

    1. Prepare the Crust

Begin by preheating your oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 13- by 9-inch baking pan and line it with parchment paper. In a food processor, combine graham crackers, brown sugar, baking powder, and kosher salt until fine crumbs form. Add melted butter and egg, and pulse until the mixture clings together. Press the crumb mixture into the prepared pan, creating an even layer. Bake for 15 minutes or until just beginning to turn golden brown.

    2. Add Toppings and Bake

Drizzle sweetened condensed milk over the warm crust. Evenly scatter chopped bittersweet chocolate, pecans, and flaked coconut on top. Return to the oven and bake for another 25 to 30 minutes, until the coconut is golden brown.

    3. Cool and Serve

Allow the bars to cool in the pan, then use the parchment paper to lift out the slab onto a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, transfer to a cutting board and slice into 15 bars.
