How to Make Classic Chocolate Sauce

    1. Warm the Base Ingredients

Pour the heavy cream, milk, sugar, and unsalted butter into a medium heavy-bottomed saucepan. Place the saucepan over medium heat and gently warm the mixture, stirring frequently until the sugar dissolves completely.

    2. Melt the Chocolate

Once the sugar is dissolved, remove the saucepan from the heat. Add the chopped bittersweet chocolate and vanilla extract. Let the residual heat of the pan slowly melt the chocolate.

    3. Whisk to Smoothness

After letting the mixture stand for a few minutes, take a whisk and gently stir until the sauce is smooth and luscious.
