1. Heat Skillet
Start by placing a cast-iron or heavy skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Add and Stir Chickpea Flour
Add the chickpea flour to the skillet and begin stirring frequently with a wooden spoon. If you notice the flour browning too quickly, lower the heat to medium, and keep stirring continuously.
3. Toast and Stir
After about 6 to 7 minutes, the chickpea flour will start to change color. This is your cue to slightly lower the heat again and continue stirring. The even toasting at this stage ensures the flour doesn't burn, giving it a rich, nutty flavor.
4. Remove from Heat
Once the flour has changed to a golden color, remove the skillet from the heat but keep stirring for another minute as the pan cools. This helps in preventing any residual heat from burning the flour.
5. Cool and Store
Finally, transfer the toasted chickpea flour to a wide bowl and let it cool to room temperature. Once cooled, store the flour in a clean, dry glass container for future use.
