How to Make Cheddar Beer Bread Rolls

1. Mix Dry Ingredients and Wet Ingredients

In the bowl of a stand mixer with a dough hook attached, blend the bread flour with the yeast and salt. Then add the softened butter, honey, and beer to the mix. Run the mixer on low speed for 4 minutes to combine, then increase to medium speed for another 2 minutes until the dough becomes cohesive.

2. Incorporate Cheese

Add 1 cup of shredded sharp white Cheddar cheese to the dough and mix for no more than a minute, or until the cheese is evenly distributed throughout the dough.

3. First Rise

Transfer the dough to a greased bowl and let it rise for about 1 hour, or until it has nearly doubled in size.

4. Shape Rolls

After the first rise, dust a work surface with flour, divide the dough into 12 pieces, and roll each into a ball. Place the dough balls in a greased 9-by-13-inch pan and let them rise again for 35 to 45 minutes until puffed up.

5. Prep for Baking

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Brush the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle the remaining Cheddar cheese over the tops.

6. Bake Rolls

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 17 to 22 minutes, until they are golden brown, the cheese is browned, and an internal temperature of 190 degrees Fahrenheit is reached.
