    How to Make Butter Cookies

    1. Cream Butter and Sugar

Cream the softened unsalted butter and sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy.

    2. Add Wet Ingredients and Flavorings

Beat in the vanilla extract, salt, lemon zest, egg, and milk until well combined.

    3. Incorporate Flour

Gradually add the unbleached all-purpose flour, mixing only until just incorporated.

    4. Chill Dough

Shape the dough into logs, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for about 2 hours.

    5. Slice and Prepare for Baking

Slice the chilled dough into ¼ inch thick pieces and lay them on lined baking sheets, spaced about 2 inches apart.

    6. Bake

Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes, or until golden.
