How to Make Ivy's Split Pea Soup

1. Cook Bacon

Cook the diced bacon in a medium saucepan over medium heat until it turns crisp, about 6 to 8 minutes.

2. Sauté Vegetables

Add the diced celery and chopped onion to the saucepan, along with 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt. Sauté for about 5 minutes, until they soften.

3. Add Split Peas

Stir in the dried split peas, ensuring they are well-mixed with the bacon and vegetable mixture.

4. Simmer Soup

Pour in the 6 cups of water or stock, add the remaining 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to maintain a gentle boil for 45 to 55 minutes.
