1. Wash and Soak Rice
Wash the basmati rice thoroughly in a bowl until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in 5 cups of water with 0.5 teaspoons of salt for 30 minutes. After soaking, drain the rice completely.
2. Melt Butter
Place a heavy-bottomed pot on medium flame and melt 1 tablespoon of butter.
3. Add and Stir Rice
Add the drained rice to the pot and stir gently for about a minute to coat each grain with butter.
4. Cook Rice
Add 2.25 cups of water and 0.25 teaspoons of salt to the pot. Bring the water to a boil, then cover the pot, lower the heat to a simmer, and let it cook for 20 minutes.
5. Fluff and Finish Cooking
After 20 minutes, lift the lid and gently fluff the rice with a fork. Cover the pot again and let it cook for another 10 minutes, or until the rice is tender and fully cooked.
