How to Make Olive Oil Mashed Potatoes

    1. Boil Potatoes and Garlic

Set a large saucepan of water on high heat and bring it to a rolling boil. Carefully add in your prepared potatoes and garlic along with 2 teaspoons of salt. Adjust the heat to maintain a brisk simmer for about 15 minutes, or until the potatoes can be easily pierced with a fork and are tender but not falling apart.

    2. Drain and Reserve Liquid

Drain the potatoes and garlic using a colander, reserving about 1 cup of the cooking liquid for later.

    3. Mash Potatoes

Mash the potatoes and garlic in the saucepan using a potato masher or a sturdy fork until they transform into a fluffy, garlicky mix.

    4. Add Olive Oil

Pour in the olive oil and gently beat it into the mashed potatoes, adding a rich, smooth texture and an aromatic depth.

    5. Adjust Consistency and Season

If the mash is too thick, gradually mix in a little of the reserved cooking liquid until you reach your preferred consistency. Taste and adjust the seasoning with additional salt if needed.
