1. Bring Water to Boil
Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil.
2. Cook Sausage
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a medium skillet over medium-low heat. Add 1/2 pound of crumbled Italian sausage to the skillet, cooking until browned.
3. Add Liquid
Pour in 1/2 cup of water, white wine, or red wine, and adjust the heat to maintain a gentle simmer.
4. Cook Pasta
Add 1/2 pound of cut pasta to the boiling water and cook until tender but still firm. Reserve 1/2 cup of the cooking water before draining.
5. Combine Pasta and Sauce
Return the drained pasta to the pot and dress with the sausage and sauce mixture. If too thick, add reserved pasta water to adjust consistency.
6. Add Parmesan and Season
Toss the pasta with 1/2 cup of freshly grated Parmesan, adding salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
7. Serve
Serve hot, ensuring each bite is rich with sausage, cheese, and perfectly cooked pasta.
