How to Make Nut-Free Sunflower Seed Flour

1. Prepare Sifting Setup

Start by setting a mesh colander over a medium bowl; this will help you sift the ground seeds later.

2. Grind Sunflower Seeds

Pour one cup of raw, unsalted sunflower seeds into a coffee grinder. Grind the seeds for about 10 to 20 seconds. The goal is to achieve a texture resembling coarse flour, so keep an eye on it to prevent the seeds from turning into butter.

3. Sift Ground Seeds

Once you have ground the seeds, pour them into the colander and shake vigorously to sift the flour into the bowl. The finer particles will fall through, leaving larger bits behind.

4. Re-grind Remaining Pieces

Return those remaining pieces to the coffee grinder and grind them again. Repeat this process three or four times, shaking the colander and re-grinding the seeds until almost all of the sunflower seeds have been transformed into flour.

5. Store Sunflower Seed Flour

When you're satisfied with the consistency, transfer the sunflower seed flour into an airtight bag or container. Store it in the refrigerator or freezer to keep it fresh. Your nut-free sunflower seed flour is now ready to use in your favorite recipes!
