How to Make Port-Infused Cherry Glaze

    1. Simmer the Ruby Port

Pour ½ cup of ruby port into a small saucepan. Bring it to a simmer over medium heat. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the port to reduce to about 2 tablespoons.

    2. Combine Ingredients

Once the port has reduced, add 1 cup of packed dark brown sugar, ½ cup of cherry preserves, and 1 teaspoon of pepper to the saucepan. Stir everything together until well combined.

    3. Cook the Glaze

Continue to cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally for about 5 to 10 minutes. The glaze should thicken to a syrupy consistency, reducing to about 1 cup.

    4. Set Aside the Glaze

When the glaze is ready, set it aside until you’re ready to use it on your ham. This glaze can be applied during the last 30 minutes of baking your ham.
