How to Make Vanilla-Infused Poached Pear Delight

    1. Prepare the Syrup

Start by bringing 1.5 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add 0.5 cups of sugar along with the vanilla bean and its seeds. Let this mixture bubble away for about 5 minutes. You want to make sure the sugar dissolves completely, transforming the water into a clear, sweet syrup infused with the warm, aromatic essence of vanilla.

    2. Poach the Pears

Next, gently place the peeled, halved, and cored pears into the saucepan. Turn off the heat immediately and cover the saucepan. Let the pears sit in the hot syrup for about 30 minutes, until they cool down. This method allows the pears to absorb the sweetened vanilla flavor and become tender without the risk of overcooking.

    3. Chill the Pears

Once the pears have cooled, carefully remove the vanilla bean from the saucepan. Transfer the pears and the poaching liquid to the refrigerator, letting them chill for at least 2 hours. This cooling period helps the pears firm up slightly and further enhances their flavor with the vanilla-infused syrup.

    4. Serve

When you're ready to serve, spoon the pears into individual bowls, making sure to drizzle some of the luscious poaching liquid over each serving. If you're not planning to serve them right away, you can keep the pears in the refrigerator, covered tightly with plastic wrap, to maintain their freshness.
