1. Brown the Beef
Heat a large, deep skillet over high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until it's browned with no pink remaining, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon.
2. Crisp the Chickpeas
To the skillet with browned beef, add the cooked chickpeas. Cook on high heat until the chickpeas are crispy and golden brown.
3. Bloom the Spices
Stir in the ground cumin, minced chile or chile powder, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for about one minute on high heat to bloom the spices.
4. Simmer with Chickpea Liquid
Pour the reserved cooking liquid from the chickpeas into the skillet. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer until the liquid thickens slightly to a sauce consistency.
5. Finish with Olive Oil
Turn off the heat and drizzle the extra virgin olive oil over the beef and chickpeas. Season with salt and pepper to taste and stir to combine.
