How to Make Sauteed Broccoli with Oyster Sauce

1. Prep

Cut the broccoli into even sized florets. This ensures even cooking and a pleasant texture in every bite. Trim the ends off of the garlic cloves and slice them.

2. Saute

Heat a large saute pan over medium high heat and add the avocado oil. Once the avocado oil is shimmering but not smoking, add the broccoli and saute with a pinch of salt until browned and nearly tender.

3. Add Aromatics

Add the sliced garlic and cook for another minute or two until it's softened and fragrant.

4. Finishing Ingredients

Add a small splash of water and a lid to the pan and cook for a couple minutes until the water has evaporated away and the broccoli is tender but still has a slight crunch. Drizzle the oyster and fish sauces over the broccoli. Toss everything together to coat the broccoli evenly in the sauce, and sauté for another minute to evaporate off any excess moisture. Transfer the sautéed broccoli to a serving dish. The dish should be bursting with a savory umami flavor, balanced by the fresh crunch of the greens.
