How to Make Classic French Toast

    1. Make the Batter

Crack the large egg into a bowl or shallow dish, pour in the milk, and add a pinch of salt. Whisk these ingredients together until smooth with a bit of frothiness on the top.

    2. Soak the Bread

Soak two slices of sandwich bread in the egg-milk mixture, turning them a few times to ensure each side is well coated and the bread absorbs the mixture without leaving excess liquid.

    3. Cook the French Toast

Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat and melt 1/2 tablespoon of unsalted butter. Cook the soaked bread for about 3 minutes on each side or until both sides are golden brown.

    4. Serve Warm

Transfer the cooked French toast to a plate, top with additional butter if desired, and serve with toppings such as maple syrup or jam while warm.
