How to Make Rustic Homemade Croutons

    1. Heat Olive Oil

Pour 2 tablespoons of good olive oil into a small 8-inch sauté pan. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it becomes hot but not smoking. You'll know it's ready when the oil shimmers in the pan.

    2. Add Bread Cubes

Add the 2.5 ounces of diced country white bread to the pan. Stir them occasionally, allowing each piece to soak up the oil and turn golden brown. This process should take about 4 to 5 minutes.

    3. Season Croutons

Once the bread cubes are beautifully golden, sprinkle them with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Allow the croutons to cool slightly before using them.
