1. Heat Olive Oil
Pour 2 tablespoons of good olive oil into a small 8-inch sauté pan. Heat the oil over medium-high heat until it becomes hot but not smoking. You'll know it's ready when the oil shimmers in the pan.
2. Add Bread Cubes
Add the 2.5 ounces of diced country white bread to the pan. Stir them occasionally, allowing each piece to soak up the oil and turn golden brown. This process should take about 4 to 5 minutes.
3. Season Croutons
Once the bread cubes are beautifully golden, sprinkle them with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Allow the croutons to cool slightly before using them.
